Thirty-one Colorado students from 11 different schools competed in the 2026 ARML Competition at the University of Nevada Reno. The national competition attracted 120+ fifteen-member teams and over 1800 students from the U.S. and abroad. Congratulations to Colorado ARML Team 1 which placed 8th out of 50 teams in the B Division!

The 2026 ARML Local Competition attracted 300 six-member teams from around the country and abroad. The top Colorado team finished in 20th place among U.S. Teams! Congratulations to team members Joshua Liu, Neo Luo, Rohith Thomas, Alex Wang, Jonah Wang, and Derek Yin! Their Individual Round total was the 9th highest among U.S. teams.

The Colorado Math Circle finished in 12th place in the 2025-2026 ARML Power Contest. Congratulations to everyone who participated this year!

Congratulations to Shruti Arun of Cherry Creek HS who won a bronze medal in the 2025 Math Prize for Girls Olympiad!

Congratulations to Shruti Arun of Cherry Creek HS who tied for 2nd highest score and placed fourth in the 2025 Math Prize for Girls competition! Each fall at MIT, about 250 young female mathematicians from the U.S. and Canada compete for cash prizes and the chance to qualify for the Math Prize Olympiad.

Twenty-nine Colorado students from ten different schools competed in the 2025 ARML Competition at the University of Nevada Reno. The national competition attracted 116 fifteen-member teams and over 1700 students from the U.S. and abroad. Congratulations to Colorado ARML Team 1 which placed 8th out of 52 teams in the B Division! Their Power Round score of 44/50 was the 8th highest out of all teams in both A and B Divisions.

Congratulations to Shruti Arun and Rohith Thomas of Cherry Creek HS who had perfect Individual Round scores of 8/8 and qualified for the Tiebreaker Round! They placed 24th and 27th, respectively, out of all participants.

Congratulations to Shruti Arun of Cherry Creek HS who won first place in the 2024 Math Prize for Girls competition! Each fall at MIT, about 250 young female mathematicians from the U.S. and Canada compete for cash prizes and the chance to qualify for the Math Prize for Girls Olympiad.

The Colorado Math Circle finished tied for 3rd place in the 2022-2023 ARML Power Contest. Congratulations to all who participated this year! This is one of the best results we've ever had.

Congratulations to the Colorado ARML Team which placed 9th in the off-site A Division of the 2022 ARML Competition! The contest attracted over 110 fifteen-member teams and 1600 participants from around the country. This year half of the teams competed at one of the four regional sites and the other half (including the Colorado team) competed in person locally.

Congratulations to Shruti Arun of Campus MS who placed 10th in the 2022 National MathCounts Competition which took place on May 7-9 in Washington, D.C.!

Congratulations to Srinivas Arun of Cherry Creek HS and Jackson Dryg of Fossil Ridge HS on their USA Math Olympiad and USA Junior Math Olympiad results! Srinivas was awarded a USAMO Bronze Award, and Jackson was named a USAJMO winner, receiving one of the highest scores. Both will have the opportunity to attend the Math Olympiad Summer Program (MOSP) which will train and select the members of the US Math Olympiad Team. Congrats to Srinivas and Jackson!!

The 2022 ARML Local Competition attracted 117 six-member teams from around the country. Congratulations to the following Colorado teams! Colorado Archimedes (Srinivas Arun, Jackson Dryg, Ellie Greyson, Jeremy Huang, Anthony Wang, Ari Wang) placed 10th and Colorado Calcoholics (Shruti Arun, Pavan Gudavalli, Abhinav Krishna, Hannah Wang, Max Xu, Kelly Young) placed 18th.

In addition, Srinivas Arun of Cherry Creek HS placed 8th overall in the Individual Round, one of only 12 participants who received a perfect score.

The 2021 ARML Competition attracted over 120 fifteen-member teams and 1800 participants from around the country. Congratulations to Rahul Thomas of Cherry Creek HS who placed 10th in the 2021 ARML Local Competition with a perfect score in the Individual Round! Congrats also to the Colorado Archimedes Team (Srinivas Arun, Jackson Dryg, Andrew Huycke, Aiden Lee, Rahul Thomas, and Anthony Wang) which finished in 21st place! The team received a perfect score in the Relay Round, one of only three teams to do so. More than 200 six-member teams and 1200 students from the U.S. and abroad competed in this year's contest.

The Colorado Math Circle tied for fourth place in the 2020-2021 ARML Power Contest! In seventh place after the first round, we moved up several spots in the second round to finish in fourth place. The math circle has placed among the top ten teams many times, including fourth place in 2018 and first place in 2016. Congratulations to all who participated in this year's contest!

Congratulations to Austen Mazenko of Cherry Creek High School who was selected to compete in the Who Wants to Be a Mathematician contest held at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Denver on Saturday, January 18. Austen won second place in the contest, earning $6000. He also was named a winner of the AMS Math Poetry Contest!

In 2016, 140,000 U.S. students participated in the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) 10/12 exams which lead to the selection of the U.S. IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad) team. Only the top 50–60 students who write the USA Mathematical Olympiad or USA Junior Mathematical Olympiad are invited to attend MOSP, the U.S. IMO training camp.

The last time two Colorado students qualified for this select program was in 2008. Congrats to Hongyi and Avi!

The Colorado Math Circle has won first place in the 2015-2016 ARML Power Contest! This is the first time we have won the contest after placing among the top seven teams for ten consecutive years. Congratulations to all who participated!!

In the mixed middle school division, the Colorado Galois 1 Team won honorable mention. Congratulations to Casey Zhang, Christine Soh, Nina Vendhan, T.J. Leing, Webb Harrington, and George Younger for winning sixth place by scoring 18 points out of 20!

This year's Purple Comet online competition attracted over 10,000 students who competed on 2200 teams from 39 countries.

Congratulations to math circle alumni Sam Elder and Ben Alpert for their performance in the 2011 William Lowell Putnam Mathematics Competition! Sam, a senior at Caltech, ranked among the top five (out of 4400 participants) and was named a Putnam fellow. Ben, a freshman at Carnegie Mellon, placed among the top twenty-five students.

Congratulations to Kevin Xie of Douglas County High School who has been named a winner in the Open Round of the 2012 North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad (NACLO)! The contest attracted more than 1500 participants in the U.S. and Canada. The top winners now advance to the five-hour Invitational Round on Tuesday, March 13.

Colorado Math Circle alumna Hannah Alpert has been awarded honorable mention for the 2012 Frank and Brennie Morgan Prize for outstanding research in mathematics by an undergraduate student. A graduate of Fairview High School and University of Chicago, Hannah is currently a graduate student in mathematics at MIT.

The Rocky Mountain Section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) has awarded the Colorado Math Circle a $750 Section Activity Grant.

The Colorado Math Circle is in third place after Round 1 of the 2011–2012 ARML Power Contest. Congratulations to all participants!

The Colorado ARML A Team placed 14th overall and 6th place in the western division at the 2011 ARML Competition, our best placement ever. This year 132 fifteen-member regional teams from around the country participated. Team A's Relay Round score was the 7th highest in the country. The Colorado B Team was named a national winner, placing 6th out of 68 division B teams.

Congratulations to Ben Alpert, who finished in 6th place in the individual competition, out of 2000 participants!

Congratulations to the math circle members who qualified for the 2011 USA Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO)!

The Colorado Euler 1 Team won first place in the 2011 Purple Comet! Math Meet mixed high school division. Congratulations to Allan Gardner, Ben Alpert, Cissy Chen, David Wise, Kevin Xie, and Tommy Fan for scoring a perfect 30! The Colorado Euler 2 team won honorable mention.

In the mixed middle school division, Colorado Galois 1 won eighth place. The Colorado Galois 2 and Galois 3 Teams were awarded honorable mention. Congratulations to all our participants! This year's Purple Comet online competition attracted 2200 teams from 39 countries.

The Colorado Math Circle finished in fifth place in the 2010–2011 ARML Power Contest. Congratulations to everyone who participated!

Congratulations to the following math circle students who have been named winners in the Open Round of the 2011 North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad (NACLO)!

The math circle hosted the three-hour NACLO Open Round for the first time this year. The contest attracted more than 1000 participants in the U.S. and Canada. The top 100 winners now advance to the five-hour Invitational Round on Thursday, March 10. Top scorers in the Invitational Round will be invited to represent the U.S. at the International Olympiad in Linguistics (IOL).

The Colorado ARML A Team placed 22nd overall and 4th place in the western division at the 2010 ARML Competition, out of 120 regional teams. Team A's Team Round score was the 7th highest in the country. The Colorado ARML B Team placed 10th nationally and 3rd place at the western site in the B Division.

Congratulations to the math circle members who qualified for the 2010 USA Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO):

The Colorado Math Circle tied for second place in round two of the 2009-2010 ARML Power Contest, finishing in seventh place overall. As one of the top ten teams, we will be presented with a trophy at the ARML Competition in June.

Congratulations to Sam Elder who ranked among the top twenty-five in the 2009 William Lowell Putnam Mathematics Competition! A former math circle and Colorado ARML team member, Sam is now an undergraduate at Caltech.

Charles Xu of Fairview High School tied for third place and won $1000 in the first national Who Wants to Be a Mathematician contest held during the Joint Mathematics Meetings in San Francisco in January 2010. Congratulations to Charles!

Congratulations to Hannah Alpert who has been named a co-winner of the 2010 Alice T. Schafer Prize! The annual award is given by the Association for Women in Mathematics to an undergraduate woman for excellence in mathematics. Currently a University of Chicago junior, Hannah is a former math circle and Colorado ARML team member.

The Colorado ARML A Team placed 28th overall and 7th in the western division at the 2009 ARML Competition, out of 130 regional teams. Relay Round was the team's best this year, with the 7th highest score in the competition.

Congratulations to Charles Xu of Fairview High School, who qualified for the Mathematical Olympiad Summer Program (MOSP) for the second consecutive year! The other Colorado USAMO qualifiers in 2009 were Ben Alpert and Chris Guthrie, also of Fairview High School, and Michael Morton of Rangely High School.

The Colorado Math Circle won sixth place in the 2008–09 ARML Power Contest, just a half point behind three teams tied for third. This is the fourth consecutive year we have placed in the top ten.

Congratulations to math circle alumnus Sam Elder, now at Caltech, who won honorable mention in the 2008 William Lowell Putnam Mathematics Competition for college students.

Thomas Davids of Fairview High School placed 9th in the country at the 2008 ARML Competition! The Colorado Granite Team once again placed among the top 20 in the country, finishing in 17th place overall and 5th in the western division. Relay Round and Team Round were the team's best this year, with the 3rd and 8th highest scores, respectively, in the competition. Colorado Quartz won the Super Relay at the western site.

Once again Power Round was the team's strongest, attaining the 5th highest score in the competition. Hannah Alpert of Fairview High School also qualified for the individual tiebreaker round.

The Colorado Math Circle won third place in the 2006–07 ARML Power Contest, with the highest team score in the second round.

The Colorado ARML Team won first place in the B Division of the 2006 ARML Competition, outscoring 80+ teams from around the country and abroad. Each team member received a TI-84 calculator. Placing 18th overall, the Colorado team now moves to the more competitive A Division. The Power Round was the team's best round, with the third highest score in the competition.
