The national competition attracted 120+ fifteen-member teams and over 1800 students from the U.S. and abroad. Congratulations to Shruti Arun of Cherry Creek HS who tied for 2nd highest score and placed fourth in the 2025 Math Prize for Girls competition! Each fall at MIT, about 250 young female mathematicians from the U.S. and Canada compete for cash prizes and the chance to qualify for the Math Prize Olympiad.
2024–25 Academic Year
Twenty-nine Colorado students from ten different schools competed in the 2025 ARML Competition at the University of Nevada Reno. The national competition attracted 116 fifteen-member teams and over 1700 students from the U.S. and abroad. Congratulations to Colorado ARML Team 1 which placed 8th out of 52 teams in the B Division! Their Power Round score of 44/50 was the 8th highest out of all teams in both A and B Divisions.
Congratulations to Shruti Arun and Rohith Thomas of Cherry Creek HS who had perfect Individual Round scores of 8/8 and qualified for the Tiebreaker Round! They placed 24th and 27th, respectively, out of all participants.

2021–22 Academic Year
Congratulations to the Colorado ARML Team which placed 9th in the off-site A Division of the 2022 ARML Competition! The contest attracted over 110 fifteen-member teams and 1600 participants from around the country. This year half of the teams competed at one of the four regional sites and the other half (including the Colorado team) competed in person locally.

The 2021 ARML Competition attracted over 120 fifteen-member teams and 1800 participants from around the country. Congratulations to Rahul Thomas of Cherry Creek HS who placed 10th in the 2021 ARML Local Competition with a perfect score in the Individual Round! Congrats also to the Colorado Archimedes Team (Srinivas Arun, Jackson Dryg, Andrew Huycke, Aiden Lee, Rahul Thomas, and Anthony Wang) which finished in 21st place! The team received a perfect score in the Relay Round, one of only three teams to do so. More than 200 six-member teams and 1200 students from the U.S. and abroad competed in this year's contest.

In 2016, 140,000 U.S. students participated in the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) 10/12 exams which lead to the selection of the U.S. IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad) team. Only the top 50–60 students who write the USA Mathematical Olympiad or USA Junior Mathematical Olympiad are invited to attend MOSP, the U.S. IMO training camp.
The last time two Colorado students qualified for this select program was in 2008. Congrats to Hongyi and Avi!

The Colorado Math Circle tied for sixth place in the 2013-2014 ARML Power Contest. This is the ninth consecutive year we have ranked among the top seven teams overall.
Congratulations to the math circle members who have been named winners in the Open Round of the 2014 North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad (NACLO)! The contest attracted more than 1625 participants in the U.S. and Canada. The top winners advance to the five-hour Invitational Round.

Congratulations to Jesse Zhang of Fairview High School who won 2nd place in the 2014 Who Wants to Be a Mathematician contest, receiving $6000 for himself and his school! The contest took place at the 2014 Joint Mathematics Meetings in Baltimore.
Congratulations to Nina Vendhan of the Kent Denver School who won 8th place in the 2013 Math Prize for Girls! In addition to receiving $1000, Nina now advances to the 2013 Math Prize for Girls Olympiad in November.
We are pleased to announce that the CU-Boulder Department of Mathematics is now a co-sponsor of the Colorado Math Circle, joining the Department of Applied Mathematics and Outreach Committee.
2012–13 Academic Year
The CU-Boulder Outreach Committee has awarded the Colorado Math Circle $6900 for the 2013–2014 academic year. We greatly appreciate the generous financial support we have received from the Outreach Committee and Department of Applied Mathematics.
The Colorado ARML A1 Team placed 23rd overall at the 2013 ARML Competition, out of 139 fifteen-member regional teams from around the country.

This year's Purple Comet online competition attracted over 10,000 students who competed on 2200 teams from 39 countries.

Congratulations to math circle alumni Sam Elder and Ben Alpert for their performance in the 2011 William Lowell Putnam Mathematics Competition! Sam, a senior at Caltech, ranked among the top five (out of 4400 participants) and was named a Putnam fellow. Ben, a freshman at Carnegie Mellon, placed among the top twenty-five students.

Colorado Math Circle alumna Hannah Alpert has been awarded honorable mention for the 2012 Frank and Brennie Morgan Prize for outstanding research in mathematics by an undergraduate student. A graduate of Fairview High School and University of Chicago, Hannah is currently a graduate student in mathematics at MIT.

2010–11 Academic Year
The Colorado ARML A Team placed 14th overall and 6th place in the western division at the 2011 ARML Competition, our best placement ever. This year 132 fifteen-member regional teams from around the country participated. Team A's Relay Round score was the 7th highest in the country. The Colorado B Team was named a national winner, placing 6th out of 68 division B teams.

The math circle hosted the three-hour NACLO Open Round for the first time this year. The contest attracted more than 1000 participants in the U.S. and Canada. The top 100 winners now advance to the five-hour Invitational Round on Thursday, March 10. Top scorers in the Invitational Round will be invited to represent the U.S. at the International Olympiad in Linguistics (IOL).

Congratulations to Hannah Alpert who has been named a co-winner of the 2010 Alice T. Schafer Prize! The annual award is given by the Association for Women in Mathematics to an undergraduate woman for excellence in mathematics. Currently a University of Chicago junior, Hannah is a former math circle and Colorado ARML team member.

The Colorado ARML A Team placed 28th overall and 7th in the western division at the 2009 ARML Competition, out of 130 regional teams. Relay Round was the team's best this year, with the 7th highest score in the competition.
Congratulations to Charles Xu of Fairview High School, who qualified for the Mathematical Olympiad Summer Program (MOSP) for the second consecutive year! The other Colorado USAMO qualifiers in 2009 were Ben Alpert and Chris Guthrie, also of Fairview High School, and Michael Morton of Rangely High School.
The Colorado Math Circle won sixth place in the 2008–09 ARML Power Contest, just a half point behind three teams tied for third. This is the fourth consecutive year we have placed in the top ten.

2007–08 Academic Year
Thomas Davids of Fairview High School placed 9th in the country at the 2008 ARML Competition! The Colorado Granite Team once again placed among the top 20 in the country, finishing in 17th place overall and 5th in the western division. Relay Round and Team Round were the team's best this year, with the 3rd and 8th highest scores, respectively, in the competition. Colorado Quartz won the Super Relay at the western site.

2006–07 Academic Year
Congratulations to Sam Elder of Poudre High School who won 9th place in the 2007 ARML Competition! The Colorado Granite Team placed 4th in the western division and 19th overall. Once again Power Round was the team's strongest, attaining the 5th highest score in the competition. Hannah Alpert of Fairview High School also qualified for the individual tiebreaker round.
The Colorado Math Circle won third place in the 2006–07 ARML Power Contest, with the highest team score in the second round.
2005–06 Academic Year
The Colorado ARML Team won first place in the B Division of the 2006 ARML Competition, outscoring 80+ teams from around the country and abroad. Each team member received a TI-84 calculator. Placing 18th overall, the Colorado team now moves to the more competitive A Division. The Power Round was the team's best round, with the third highest score in the competition.
The Colorado Math Circle won fourth place in the 2005–06 ARML Power Contest.
